Japan's Jun Kato will take on third seed Dirk Stegmann, of South Africa, in the singles final of the US$10,000 ($18,248) Futures event at North Harbour.
In the doubles, the Kiwi combination of Alistair Hunt and James Shortall had a walkover win in their semifinal.
Kato, ranked 504 and seeded sixth, won the Christchurch Futures singles and doubles last week, and has yet to drop a set at North Harbour.
In his semifinal he easily dispatched top seed Johan Du Randt, of South Africa, 6-2, 6-2. Stegmann, ranked at 433, was handed a place in the final after Swiss fifth seed Stephane Bohli withdrewnear the end of the first set with a wrist injury.
At the time Stegmann led 5-2.
Bohli's retirement gave Kiwi Davis Cup combination Hunt and Shortall a walkover win because they were due to play Bohli and Kato in their semifinal.
Play starts at 11am today, with the singles followed by the doubles.
