Injured world No 2 Kim Clijsters yesterday quit the adidas International in Sydney, leaving her Australian Open tennis hopes in tatters.
Clijsters,20, was forced to withdraw from last week's Hopman Cup in Perth after bruising her ankle bone and the injury flared up again after a 20-minute practice session at Olympic Park yesterday.
"I've decided I'm not going to be able to give 100 per cent," Clijsters said when announcing her withdrawal. She refused to put a percentage on her chances of taking her place in the Open draw next week.
