Australia's former world No 1 tennis player John Newcombe says Roger Federer has not quite earned the right to be an all-time great just yet.
Newcombe, a winner of seven grand slam titles, said until Federer could prove his superiority over Spain's Rafael Nadal and win a French Open he was not yet among the greatest.
"To be in the top three or four of all time you have to dominate completely in your era," Newcombe said. And Pete Sampras, a winner of a record 14 grand slams, was in the same category, Newcombe said. "The best he ever did at the French Open in 11 tries was one semifinal."
