KEY POINTS:
New Zealander Marina Erakovic has a top chance of advancing to the second round of the rich Sony Ericsson Open tennis championship starting in Miami tomorrow.
The 20-year-old Aucklander, New Zealand's highest ranked player, has drawn German Martina Muller in her first round match at the US$3.77 million tournament.
Erakovic is ranked No 100 in the world, and Muller is No 70, and certainly a player Erakovic should not fear.
The German is a regular visitor to the ASB Classic, having played in Auckland in six of the last seven years. However she has never faced Erakovic in a tournament.
Erakovic received a wildcard into the tier 1 event, the richest on the WTA regular season calendar, and it is her first main draw start in a top calibre tournament.
If Erakovic beats Muller, she will play Dutchwoman Michaella Krajicek, the world No 34, who has three WTA singles titles to her credit, in the second round.
Should she get to the third round, a likely clash with multi grand slam champion Venus Williams, who is seeded sixth, awaits her.
Erakovic's match with Muller is due to start at 3am tomorrow (NZT).
