New Zealand's Marina Erakovic has won her first International Tennis Federation $US25,000 ($NZ38,681) singles title by winning in the final of the Alphen event in the Netherlands this morning (NZT).
Eleventh seed Erakovic, 18, dropped the first set before recovering to beat German qualifier Andrea Petkovic 4-6 6-2 7-5 in the final.
Croatian-born Aucklander Erakovic has a world ranking of 281 while her German opponent is ranked 340th.
Yesterday Erakovic beat Israeli Yevgenia Savransky, the fourth seed and 181st ranked player, 6-3 6-3 in the semifinals.
