Kiwi tennis No 1 Marina Erakovic is through to the final round of qualifying at the US$175,000 Tier III WTA event in Memphis. Seeded third and ranked at 135, Erakovic beat 261st ranked Russian, Maria Kondratieva 6-2, 6-1 in her opening match.
In the second round she accounted for American Carly Gullickson 6-1, 6-1 to set up a clash with American wildcard Theresa Logar who is ranked over 1000 for a place in the main draw.
In doubles, Erakovic has teamed up with fellow Kiwi Leanne Baker where they have an unenviable draw, taking on two former world No 1 doubles players Lindsay Davenport and Lisa Raymond, the tournament third seeds.
