New Zealand's Marina Erakovic has won her first round match at the US$25,000 Gosford Challenger in Australia.
Seeded third Erakovic easily accounted for Australian wildcard Ashlee Brown yesterday, dropping just one game in the process.
Today Erakovic faces Australian Mirielle Dittmann in the second round while New Zealander Leanne Baker plays top seed Jarmila Gajdosova of Slovakia, who is ranked at 131, in her second round match.
Baker is ranked at 428 and is on a run of 14 consecutive singles victories after wins at the Taupo and Wellington Futures, then qualifying plus a first round win at Gosford.
Meanwhile, at the US$15,000 men's Futures at Wollongong, a cruel twist of fate in the draw as Kiwis Mark Nielsen and Dan King-Turner are set play each other in the second round today.
