Kiwi No 1 Marina Erakovic could claim her sixth career doubles title after winning through to the final of the US$740,000 WTA event at Stanford, California.
Erakovic and first-time partner Heather Watson from Britain took slightly more than two hours to defeat third seeds Natlie Grandin (South Africa) and Vladmiria Uhlirova (Czech Republic) 7-5 6-7(6) 10-7.
They will play the American and Australian combination of Vania King and Jarmila Gajdosova for the title.
Meanwhile, at the US$15,000 Saskatoon Futures in Canada, New Zealand Davis Cup player Dan King-Turner reached the final of the singles after scoring a 6-3 6-3 victory over Nikita Kryvonos (United States) in the semifinals.
King-Turner is building up to the Binghampton Challenger event in New York this week and has been using the futures tournament as match practice.
