New Zealand tennis No 1 Marina Erakovic has reached the quarterfinals at a $US50,000 ($NZ76,605) tournament in Beijing, China.
She beat Napaporn Tongsalee, of Thailand, 6-3 6-2 in the first round before seeing off third seed Meng Yuan, of China, yesterday.
Erakovic beat Yuan 6-1 7-6 to set up a quarterfinal against former top-20 player Iroda Tulyaganova, of Uzbekistan.
She also advanced to the last four in the doubles with her partner Raquel Kops-Jones, of the United States.
They play Russian Alla Kudryavtseva and American Sunitha Rao for a place in the final.
