KEY POINTS:
New Zealand tennis player Marina Erakovic has been well beaten in qualifying for the Pacific Life Open in California, losing in straight sets to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak this morning (NZ time).
World No 100 Erakovic went down 0-6 4-6 in the first round, meaning she won't get a chance to continue her good form in world tour events this year.
Erakovic, who turned 20 on Thursday, reached the semifinals of both WTA tournaments she has contested this year - at Auckland in January and the Memphis International a week ago.
Wozniak is ranked 147th but has been as high as 83.
