Marina Erakovic has continued her return to competition tennis from injury by scoring a 7-6(3), 6-2 victory over Australia's Monique Adamczak in the second round of the US$25,000 ($37,000) Sydney Challenger yesterday.
The win for the fourth-seeded Kiwi, who is ranked at 220, sets up a quarter-final match against Australian Sophie Ferguson, who is the seventh seed and ranked 291.
In doubles at the same event, Leanne Baker and Francesca Lubiani had a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Australian fourth seeds Daniella Dominikovic and Trudi Musgrave to move into the semifinals.
Mark Nielsen and American partner Scott Lipsky are into the doubles semifinals. They defeated Australians Robert Haybittel and Brodie Stewart 6-1, 7-5.
