Leanne Baker scored a solid win in the first round of the Fukuoka Challenger tennis event in Japan.
Baker beat Britain's Sarah Borwell 7-5, 7-5 to book a clash against top seed Su-Wei Hsieh, of Chinese Taipei.
She also advanced in the doubles, partnering Australian Christina Horiatopoulos to a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Japan's Maki Arai and Shiho Hisamatsu.
Marina Erakovic, the seventh seed, was eliminated in the first round of singles, losing 2-6, 3-6 to her regular doubles partner, Ayumi Morita, of Japan.
