KEY POINTS:
Auckland teenager Sacha Jones has made it to the quarter-finals of the US Open Tennis junior girls' singles tournament for the second consecutive year.
Jones, 16, beat Ashley Weinhold 6-1, 6-3. Weinhold is regarded as America's next big hope and has already played as a wildcard in the senior tournament.
The two have similar WTA professional rankings just outside the top 400. Jones, who beat Weinhold in the third round at last year's US Open juniors, out-hit and out-thought her opponent.
Jones now plays unseeded Georgian left-hander Oksana Kalashnikova for a place in the semifinals.
