Experienced Australian coach, Peter McCraw has been appointed as the head of coaching for Tennis New Zealand.
His role is designed to improve all areas of tennis coaching in the country.
Tennis New Zealand chief executive Steve Walker said McCraw's brief includes establishing and enhancing a national network of performance centres and leading a series of special projects with regard to national and international level elite coaches.
McCraw has wide respect in the world of tennis coaching having presented at numerous conferences and workshops as well as spending considerable time in senior coaching roles at the Bollettieri Academy in the US, Tennis Australia, and with the Israel Tennis Centre.
He has worked with professional players such as Maria Sharapova, Nicole Vaidisova, and aspiring New Zealand pro Sasha Jones.
"Pete has enormous ability with regard to delivering information, and inspiring tennis coaches to greater levels.
"Even the most experienced coaches will gain from his knowledge and his ability to source new and interesting information."
McCraw will be based in Auckland and starts at the beginning of December.
