FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil - Lleyton Hewitt sealed victory for Australia in their Davis Cup tennis tie against Brazil with a thrilling three-set win over world number 2 Gustavo Kuerten.
Hewitt won 7-6 (5), 6-3, 7-6 (3) to give Australia a 3-1 victory in the best-of-five quarterfinal.
The young Aussie ended Kuerten's 26-match winning streak on clay.
The final match, with no bearing on the outcome, was stopped because of rain. Richard Fromberg of Australia was leading Alexandre Simoni 6-4, 4-4.
Australia will meet Sweden in the semi-final in September.
