Challenger BMW Oracle Racing has questioned whether defending champion Alinghi of Switzerland plan to use sails built in Nevada, in the United States, in what the Americans say is a violation of the 19th-century document governing the event.
The American syndicate claim the cup's Deed of Gift states that a yacht must be constructed in the country of the club it represents.
