Racing in the fourth race of the America's Cup has been cancelled.
Principal race officer Harold Bennett said with 40 knots predicted to hit the race course in the Hauraki Gulf today, sending the boats out to race was not an option.
"Obviously out of the east that is going to be building up quite dramatically so it is going to be pretty rough."
He said the shallow waters of the Hauraki Gulf would make it very uncomfortable for anyone.
He said they would reconsider the forecast later in the day to see if there was any chance the predicted high winds would allow racing later in the week,
It is the fifth time race four has been postponed, either because of light winds or too much wind.
The next scheduled race day is Thursday but Mr Bennett said later today they would consider racing tomorrow.
"But tomorrow looks like it's out too," he said.
Thursday and Friday are possibilities.
