Racing in the America's Cup challenger series was abandoned early this afternoon because of strong winds on the Hauraki Gulf.
Organisers said wind speeds had been constantly around 23 knots gusting up to 30 knots. For races to start, a five minute moving average of no more than 19 knots is needed.
Weather forecasters had been hoping a lull in the strong winds was on its way, but it failed to arrive.
With racing in the quarterfinal first phase completed between the teams in the top four group, the only races still to be held in this section of the Louis Vuitton Cup are those between the bottom four teams.
Both those match-ups could be completed after just one more race, with Sweden's Victory Challenge up 3-1 in the best-of-seven contest against Le Defi of France, and Team Dennis Conner, representing the New York Yacht Club, 3-1 ahead of Britain's GBR Challenge.
