12.20pm UPDATE
Race four of the America's Cup will not take place today as light and flukey winds leave barely a ripple on the Hauraki Gulf.
The race boats of Team New Zealand and the challenger Alinghi remained at their bases all morning.
At midday, however, members of Team New Zealand boarded one of their large tenders and cruised past hundreds of well-wishers who had thronged to the Viaduct harbour since early morning.
Superyachts in the harbour blasted their horns as the cup sailors and support crew waved to the crowd ashore.
The Team New Zealand tender then carried on out of the basin and worked its way through spectator craft as police boats kept a narrow channel open.
Both teams needed three hours notice to get out to the course for a race start before the cut off time of 3.30pm.
Racing can begin after 3.30pm but only with the agreement of both teams.
Current winds in the racing area are only one or two knots.
The next scheduled race is tomorrow, starting at 1.15pm.
Similar conditions frustrated teams on the scheduled race four day on Thursday with the wind swinging about 40 degrees around the compass and fluctuating between five and 18 knots.
