Supermodel Cindy Crawford will fly into Auckland on Friday to watch Team New Zealand take on rival Swiss syndicate Alinghi.
Crawford, an "ambassador" for Swiss watchmaker Omega, the official timekeeper of the America's Cup, will start the clock for the first scheduled race, on February 15.
But the first duty of her five-day visit will be a Friday evening press conference, with Auckland Mayor John Banks and Tony Thomas, America's Cup 2003 event director.
Crawford, who turns 37 this month, will be on the committee boat during race one and two of the America's Cup series. She will then host a series of events at the Omega Boutique at the Viaduct Basin and make several promotional day trips.
Omega spokeswoman Tiffanny Junee said the supermodel was down-to-earth and had a keen interest in sport. Her only demands during her visit were fresh fruit and Evian water.
Omega already has a New Zealand-based ambassador, Team New Zealand skipper Dean Barker.
