Rugby: Simpkin quits rugby post

Former Waikato rugby coach George Simpkin has resigned as Sri Lankan coach amid a controversy over the team captaincy.

Sri Lankan newspaper the Daily Mirror reported yesterday that Simpkin had been stunned when Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge appointed Pavithra Fernando as captain in place of star player Dilanka Wijesekara.
