The South Sydney Rabbitohs finally lived up to their pre-season hype with a powerful 38-16 dismantling of the Canterbury Bulldogs in an entertaining NRL clash in Sydney last night.
The Rabbitohs' forwards ran all over a shell-shocked Bulldogs outfit, which only last week piled on 60 points.
Souths ran in five straight tries to gain a match-winning 26-6 half-time lead before finishing off the job in the second half.
English recruit Sam Burgess stormed across the line for a pair of tries in the first half. Isaac Luke scored a try and added three goals from the boot as well.
The result continues the Bulldogs' shaky start to the 2010 NRL season.
In an earlier match yesterday, the Penrith Panthers got up against the Newcastle Knights 34-30 in a thriller at EnergyAustralia Stadium, thanks to a last-minute try from Adrian Purtell.
