MELBOURNE - NRL Melbourne Storm premiership star Greg Inglis has avoided conviction for assaulting his girlfriend Sally Robinson.
In Sunshine Magistrates' Court today, a charge against Inglis of recklessly causing injury was withdrawn.
Magistrate Lionel Winton-Smith said in relation to the unlawful assault charge Inglis would be dealt with through a diversion program.
Under the conditions of the programme, Inglis must pay A$3000 ($3900) to Women's Health West and attend a men's behavioural change programme.
Inglis was not required to make a plea.
His lawyer Robert Richter QC told the court Ms Robinson had told police that she had got in Inglis' "face".
She also told police she did not wish the matter to be investigated further.
Mr Winton-Smith said to Inglis: "You pushed her back onto the bed with an open hand.
"You have expressed regret and remorse over the incident."
Inglis appeared at the hearing with Ms Robinson by his side.
