Canterbury have axed star centre Jamal Idris from their NRL side to face Cronulla on Sunday after he missed training on Monday.
Idris, who will join Gold Coast next season, was not considered for selection by coach Kevin Moore and his place in the side would be taken by Tim Lafai.
The Bulldogs sit in eighth spot on the ladder and desperately need to beat the lowly Sharks, with pressure mounting on Moore after an indifferent start to the season despite some expensive off-season recruitment.
"Jamal made a mistake and he is paying a high price for it," Moore said.
