Rookie Bulldogs rugby league sensation, Sonny Bill Williams has been approached by the New Zealand Rugby Union to change codes.
Australian television's Channel Nine last night claimed the 19-year-old, who made his Kiwis debut in the Anzac test in April, had been approached by the NZRFU with a view to one day playing for the All Blacks.
Williams, who is preparing for the Bulldogs National Rugby League semifinal against Penrith tomorrow night, would not comment.
The Auckland-born impact player has been a revelation since making his first grade debut earlier this season and has been described as one of the most promising junior players in the code.
Kiwis veteran Stephen Kearney described the strapping second rower/centre as the future of the Kiwis after his Melbourne Storm side were eliminated from the title race by the Bulldogs last Sunday.
Bulldogs management would not comment but are piecing together an upgraded deal for Williams, whose contract at Belmore expires at the end of the 2005 season but could be extended for another year.
Barring injury, Williams is a definite to be added to the Kiwis' train on squad for next month's Tri-Nations once the Bulldogs' season ends.
