New Kiwis rugby league skipper Nathan Cayless was looking on the bright side yesterday after accepting a two-match ban that will sideline him until the test against France next month.
The Parramatta captain made an early guilty plea to a careless high tackle on Sydney Roosters replacement forward Dallas Hood in the Eels' 38-22 NRL win at the weekend.
"It could be a bit of a positive because I'll go into it [the test] much fresher," he said.
In another case before the NRL judiciary, New Zealand Warriors co-skipper Kevin Campion also pleaded guilty to a careless high tackle, on North Queensland forward Michael Luck in the 18-35 loss to the Cowboys.
Campion's early plea gave him a one-week suspension, but he is disputing the grading of the charge, a move that could backfire against him.
If the judicial panel upholds the grading of two - the second-lowest on the five-grade scale - during a hearing by video conference tonight, Campion will be out for a fortnight.
