BRISBANE - Sydney trainer Bob Thomsen is at odds with Shane Dye and has blasted the Brisbane Turf Club for rescheduling the Doomben Cup to the second last race at Doomben today.
Dye applauded the BTC's decision to bring the Doomben 10,000 forward from its original race nine to the earlier race seven timeslot, while Thomsen feels the decision denigrates the Doomben Cup.
Thomsen has favourite Shogun Lodge engaged in the Doomben Cup, but warned he was an unlikely runner after Doomben was still rated slow today.
"The horse is terrific and in superb order but we'll be the first one out if the track is anything but good," Thomsen said.
At acceptance time on Tuesday, the Doomben Cup was set down for race seven with the Doomben 10,000 as race nine but the club switched the two group one races around yesterday.
The decision was made after the club and stewards raised concerns about four middle distance races being run before the Doomben 10,000 on a slow track if it was retained as race nine.
