DUNEDIN - Caps Off, winner of the New Zealand Oaks on May 5, heads to the United States on Saturday to join the New Jersey stable of Brett Pelling.
"I am sending her to America because of lack of opportunities for 4-year-old mares," said owner Trevor Casey.
"There are some hard grinders among the class four and faster pacers that she would be racing against."
Caps Off is assessed at class three after winning five of her 12 starts and $63,417 in stakes from the Canterbury stable of Bruce Negus.
"She will be in a team Pelling is taking to Canada in three months," Casey said.
Sonali, the winner of four races and $23,500 when trained by Southland part-owner Ross Hope, will be on the flight with Caps Off.
The 6-year-old has been sold to clients of Californian trainer Jim Wilkinson.
