Stablemates Myotash and Bella Vista promised to extend their good records on the Ruakaka track when they galloped strongly at Takanini yesterday morning.
Galloping on a fast plough, Myotash completed 1200m in 1.15.1, the 600 strongly in 35.8.
Bella Vista ran 1000m nicely in 1.2.2, the 600 in 37.4. Both are ready for big efforts tomorrow.
Merlion went nicely through 1200m in 1.20.7, the 600m in 38.1 and Beau Geste clocked 1.6.2 for 1000m and 37.3 for the 600.
My Willie Montague paceworked one round then ran 1200m in 1.24.1, the 600 in 40.7.
Ruakaka specialist Diamond Sands worked well on a deep sand at Avondale.
Diamond Sands had Brin covered after a strong 1400m in 1.35.7, the 600 in 39.9. It was good lead-up work to his middle distance start at Ruakaka.
River Chant finished her work strongly with 600m in 41.8.
Belle Of Ireland was not asked for much over 800 in 56.5. Myomi was keen over 1200, taking the distance in 1.29.8, the 600 in 42.4.
Thick fog allowed only three gallops to be timed at Cambridge.
On the sand, Blown Away looked ready for a bold showing in the Parliamentary Handicap at Trentham when running the last 800m of his work in 54.9, the 600 in 38.3.
Al Schmahl went one and a half rounds quietly before sprinting 600m in 38.9.
In similar work, Polo Player ran 600m in 39.
On the grass, Ruakaka candidate Sharif looked to be travelling well at the finish of his work, which could not be timed.
Fog eliminated any timing at Te Aroha and at Te Awamutu jumper Sir Avion looked good in final preparation for the Wellington Steeplechase.
Sir Avion worked over two rounds on the sand, looking in great shape. If he fails to find his best form tomorrow, it will not be because of his fitness.
Brockovich and Genome took 53 for 800m on the sand, the 600 going by in 39.9.
Complacent and an O'Reilly colt completed the same task in 52.6 and 39.2.
