The green light has been given for a green rug in greyhound racing.
In a trial starting at the Auckland Greyhound Racing Club's meeting at Manukau tomorrow the green rug will replace the brown rug on the No 6 greyhound.
It is said the brown rug can easily be confused with other dark racing colours.
The green light has also be given for the return of Pick 6 jackpot betting on Wednesday greyhound racing, beginning with the Auckland meeting.
The TAB said Pick 6 would replace six pack betting which requires punters to select the first six finishers in the correct order. Pick 6 betting is selecting the winner of six designated races.
Pick 6 betting was previously offered on Wednesday greyhound races from January 1995 through to May 1996, said the TAB.
TAB racing manager Michael Dore said a greyhound pick6 would freshen up Wednesday evening "especially if we can get a jackpot rolling".
He said six pack's first couple of seasons had been outstanding but customers' interest had diminished this year.
