by Chris Lang thinks he might get half what he wants at Alexandra Park tonight.
The champion Victorian trainer will produce the favourite in both trotting heats of the Interdominions with Sundon's Gift and Let Me Thru and would obviously love to win both.
But what he wants and what he is likely end up with are two different things.
Lang expects Let Me Thru to win the second trotting heat after the young gun drew perfectly at barrier three, with New Zealand's main chance Sovereignty out in No 8.
"He has the gate speed to use that and he is a such a good all-round racehorse he will relax in front," said Lang.
"He has improved on his last start so really he should be the one to beat."
But Lang is not so confident with two-time Interdom king Sundon's Gift, who will start from barrier one on the second line in the opening heat of the series.
Sundon's Gift is at his best when racing handy but he may need to expend a lot of energy tonight to get into a challenging position.
As the best trotter in the heat, he could still win but Lang concedes he might have to settle for second or third.
"As much as I would like to win, a placing wouldn't be a disaster to start the series from that draw," said Lang.
"We are likely to settle a fair way off some decent horses in front of him and, from there, sitting parked late in the piece might be the best we can hope for.
"He is ready to win but if one of the other favourites gets the right trip in front of us I can see us having to settle for a placing."
That boosts the chances of I Can Doosit, who loves Alexandra Park and 2700m, although his trainer, Mark Purdon, warns the 5-year-old is still on the way up. One trotter who will relish the series move from Addington to Alexandra Park is Dr Hook, who starred in the grades here last season and has good gate speed.
It wouldn't surprise to see him in front, especially as Swedish mare Annicka - to be driven by top reinsman Anthony Butt - who has blazing gate speed, is being tipped to try and lead and hand up by those close to her.
Racing: Let Me Thru likely to head dual pronged attack
