Two jockeys were hospitalised and a horse died during the last race at today's Avondale race meeting.
The final of the eight race card was deemed a no-race after six-year-old gelding Dylan De Lago, ridden by Brendon Hutton, wobbled and fell when leading the field out of the straight the first time.
He cannoned into the horse racing directly outside him, Le Moussier, ridden by apprentice Zy Nor Azman, who was dislodged from his horse and appeared to be trampled by other runners directly behind him who had no chance to avoid him.
Azman was knocked unconscious for several minutes but regained consciousness before being taken to hospital.
Hutton was able to walk off the track but complained of headaches upon returning to the jockey's room and was also taken to hospital to undergo examination for a possible concussion.
