SYDNEY - A rematch between champion New Zealand mare Sunline, Jim And Tonic and Fairy King Prawn is likely in the $A2.25 million Cox Plate at Melbourne in October.
The champion trio fought out the finish of a memorable $US2 million Dubai Duty Free (1777m) in March, with French star Jim And Tonic prevailing from Hong Kong's Fairy King Prawn. Sunline was third.
The Cox Plate is part of the Emirates World Series, and Racing Victoria's general manager of racing Greg Nichols hopes to entice connections of the horses to Melbourne to take on Sunline. She is chasing her third successive win in the race.
Meanwhile, Sunline is among nominations in an internet poll to name the five horses who should be inducted to Australian racing's Hall of Fame.
Phar Lap, Tulloch and Kingston Town are certainties according to cyber voters while Sunline and Bernborough currently fill the other two places in Racenet's poll.
However, voters at the Racing and Sports site favoured Carbine and Might And Power.
