If the hardest season in trotting is getting to Special Force he isn't letting it show.
The Interdominion champion could be forgiven for getting a little tired after racing against the best trotters he could find for 10 months.
He started his season with a national 2200m record at Alexandra Park, headed to the New Zealand and Auckland Cup carnivals before the summer carnival at Moonee Valley then back to Auckland for the two-week torture of the Inters.
And he is still racing up to world class form after an exhaustive Scandinavian campaign.
Special Force was an unlucky third in Sweden on Sunday, adding another $22,000 to his earnings.
"He was crossed at the start and then had a little trouble getting clear but only finished a length and a head from the winner," said Pukekohe trainer Dave McGowan.
Special Force has just one more start - in a $NZ500,000 leg of trotting's grand circuit next Tuesday - before returning home to get prepare for the Auckland Cup carnival.
He has earned over $NZ130,000 on his European campaign and his owner has already turned down a substantial offer for the 5-year-old gelding.
