Wildcats pulled off a spectacular double, winning the 20th annual Kiwi Bowl 25-8 over three-times champions Waikato Spears and the junior Kiwi Bowl 12-6 over the same club in the Northern Conference gridiron final at Blockhouse Bay.
Wildcats Seniors led all the way after first-half running touchdowns by Pat Vainikolo and Mitch Henry and a 52-yard pass-and-run score from quarterback Douglas Ahne to wide receiver Tuna von Reiche.
It was their first championship in 15 years in the Northern Conference competition.
Wildcats Juniors took out the championship when Adam Strickland returned an interception 79 yards for a touchdown late in the final quarter.
