KEY POINTS:
Shooters Jade Topia and Daneka Wipiiti and mid-courter Liana Barrett-Chase have been handed a chance to force their way into the New Zealand netball team.
The three will attend the existing Silver Ferns squad in camp from Friday and will play in a trial on Sunday. A day later, the New Zealand team to play Jamaica and Australia next month will be named.
Coach Ruth Aitken says the players were invited after impressing the selectors during the National Bank Cup, which finished last night with Southern Sting beating Northern Force 50-49.
Wipiiti and Barrett-Chase were important members of the Sting squad while young Canterbury Flames goal attack Topia had a consistent season.
"A campaign like the World Netball Championships requires a team of the 12 strongest available players, and this is a chance for some of the players knocking on the door of Silver Ferns selection to show what they can do," Aitken said. All franchises were asked to submit a player availability list to Netball NZ before the semifinals began.
