Silver Ferns goal attack Jodi Te Huna is confident she'll be better prepared for England's rangy defence in tomorrow's second test in Wellington.
The Silver Ferns arrived in Wellington yesterday with plenty to work on after a patchy 52-30 win in the opening test.
An area of concern was New Zealand's shooting performance after England's tall defenders Sonia Mkoloma and Geva Mentor caused them all sorts of difficulty.
The normally unflappable Irene van Dyk ended the match with 84 per cent and Te Huna a concerning 52 per cent.
"Both myself and Irene did have a bit of an off day with our shooting," Te Huna said.
"I think it was a mixture of things. It was our first game for four months and there was a little bit of the unknown - it was my first time playing against England.
"I think it was really a combination of those little things which really shouldn't have affected us that much. We were disappointed and there is lots of room for improvement."
Te Huna was cast into the leading goal attack role after Belinda Colling withdrew from the squad pregnant and then Donna Loffhagen decided to quit and concentrate on her basketball career.
Te Huna believes the Silver Ferns were too slow to adjust to the English defenders. "They use their height really well ... They tend to push you out wide, then mark the shot really hard."
