Carlos Sainz ended a 26-month run without a win as he cruised to victory in the Cyprus motor rally yesterday.
Spaniard Sainz finished 37.3s ahead of Ford team-mate Colin McRae as he overcame a right rear puncture on one of the morning stages to step on to the top of the podium for the first time since the Rally of New Zealand in 1998.
The result means that seven points separate the four leading drivers with four events remaining.
The next event, the Tour of Corsica, takes place on September 30.
