MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Two-time cancer survivor Jarrod Lyle will play on the weekend at the Australian Masters after a second-round even-par 71 Friday left him inside the cut line at Royal Melbourne.
Lyle hadn't played a tournament in 20 months since suffering a second bout of leukemia in early 2012 after having first fought off the disease when he was 17.
He shot an opening-round 72 and was at 1-over 143 after 36 holes.
The 32-year-old Lyle said his legs felt heavy but he would draw on his "fighting instinct" to finish the weekend "if I have to crawl those last 18 holes I'm crawling them, nothing's going to stop me from finishing."
