Lydia Ko has bounced back on the LPGA Tour to shoot a clinical four-under par, 68 in the opening round of the Kia Classic this morning to be just one shot off the pace.
Ko, who sadly missed the cut at last week's Founders Cup, has great memories at this event having won the title in 2016. Her positive vibes were clear early as she recorded five birdies on the front nine to make the turn in just 31.
This didnt continue into the back nine, managing just one birdie and two bogeys, but this round has lifted her to tied fourth and just one shot off the pace.
There is a three-way tie at the top with Nicole Broch Larsen, Ariya Jutanugarn and In-Kyung Kim all at five-under par.
It was Kos putter that once again was the strength with the 20-year-old requiring only just 25 putts which was vital after hitting just seven fairways and 11 greens at Aviara Golf Club.
