MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Taiwan's Lin Wen-tang has withdrawn from this week's World Cup of Golf with a left wrist injury.
Asian Tour officials on Tuesday said Lin injured his wrist while playing last weekend at the Manila Masters. He had only received his visa to travel to Australia last Friday with some fast-track assistance from the manager at the Manila course, who is Australian.
Lin will be replaced by Oscar Fraustro of Mexico, who will be one of 10 players, including Vijay Singh, competing only in the individual stroke play portion of the World Cup.
There are 25 teams taking part in the 60-man field, and those players will be eligible for the $7 million individual purse and $1 million in the team event.
The tournament starts Thursday at Royal Melbourne.
