KEY POINTS:
If you're talking big money and kiwi sportsmen, what springs to mind - Daniel Carter's offer from Toulouse? Brendan McCullum's IPL wages?
Both are impressive sums, but in terms of (potential) winnings, pro golf can leave both rugby and cricket trailing in its wake.
New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has today added substantially to his 2008 paypacket - and taken another big step towards securing his USPGA Tour card for next year.
He has collected just over $40,000 for his 29th place finish at the Heritage Open. It means Wilkinson has now collected $860,000 from his ten tournaments this year.
He says he would have been higher if it was not for some inconsistent play this week on holes 10 to 13. Wilkinson says he did not play that stretch of holes well and it is something he will have to improve on in the weeks ahead.
Wilkinson is next lining up in this week's Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.
