New Zealand golfers Phil Tataurangi and Bradley Iles today made up some ground in the final stage of qualifying school for United States PGA Tour at the Bear Lakes Country Club course in Florida.
Tataurangi today shot a two-under 70, to move up 40 places to a tie for 100th. He bogied the third, then birdied the seventh, 11th and 17th.
Iles shot an even par 72, after opening with a four-over 76, fighting back after being three-over through the front nine.
After two rounds of six, he too was placed 100th - he had been 105th after the first round.
Iles had a bogey and a double bogey on the front nine, then shot three-under on the back nine.
Both New Zealanders are four-over for the tournament, in which the top 25 and ties win playing rights on the 2010 PGA Tour - at this point the pair are six shots adrift of the top 25.
First round leader Troy Merritt shot a three-under 69 today to maintain a one-shot lead over the 170-strong field at eight-under par.
