Fourteen-year-old Cecilia Cho added yet another victory to her season's tally yesterday when she won the Grange 54-hole event by nine shots from a strong field at the Papatoetoe club.
After rounds of 69 and 70 to be seven under overnight, she slipped to a one-over 74 in yesterday's wind and rain. In fact, she was five over after 10 holes but stormed home, with birdies on the last four holes.
Second was Northland's Caroline Bon and third Emily Perry from the Waikato. Both will lead their provincial teams when the national team event comes to the course in two weeks.
The best rounds on the final day were one-under 72s from the national strokeplay champion, Zoe-Beth Brake (Whakatane), and Rica Tse from North Shore.
Cho, from the Pakuranga club, has had a remarkable season. She was runner-up in the national strokeplay at Remuera and then won the matchplay at Titirangi.
Among her other titles are the Matamata Open, the North Shore Classic, the Waikato Classic, the North Harbour matchplay, the Auckland provincial strokeplay and matchplay, the national secondary schools and under-19 strokeplay and the South Island strokeplay.
