New Zealand golfer Alex Tait came up well short in his attempt to qualify for next week's British Open.
The former New Zealand one-day cricket representative shot a second round of 75 in final qualifying today to finish the two-round event on 148, well outside the top-three finish he required from the field of 96 to qualify for the year's third major tournament.
Two New Zealanders will contest the British Open, starting at Hoylake, England, next Thursday, with former US Open champion Michael Campbell being joined by David Smail.
