New Zealand Golf (NZG) has finally announced its major sponsor of this year's New Zealand Open.
The Open, which has struggled to attract a naming rights sponsor, will be known as the Blue Chip New Zealand Open.
Blue Chip is a leading financial planning and investment company with offices throughout New Zealand and Australia.
The sponsorship is a marketing partnership between New Zealand Golf and the investment company that spans the entire year, not just the four days of the New Zealand Open event.
Under the deal, the sponsor also undertakes to support golf at the grass roots level.
Earlier in the year, Michael Campbell publicly criticised the organisers of the New Zealand Open for their failure to secure a sponsor for the country's premier golf event.
The former US Open champion has since said he has had 'positive discussions' with NZG during the British Open last month, regarding the tournament's future.
The New Zealand Open will be held in the week of 27 November to 3 December at the Gulf Harbour Country Club, in the Rodney District just north of Auckland.
