Sam Shin added to his growing list of golfing triumphs when he won the prestigious Mastercard Masters Junior title in Perth yesterday.
Shin, 15, won the international under-18 tournament by one shot from South Australia's Jordan Sherratt at The Vines.
The North Harbour player came from two shots behind after 54 holes with a final round one-over par 73 for a 72-hole total of even-par 288.
Shin came into prominence when he finished runner-up in the Junior British Open last year as a 14-year-old, going on to claim the Jack Newton Junior International in Queensland at the end of the year.
He was selected for the New Zealand under-18 team and finished unbeaten on debut against Australia in the Clare Higson Trophy event.
He went on to win the North Island under-19 title before his selection as the sole New Zealand representative to the top ranking junior international event.
Shin had a three shot lead after 36 holes following his tournament-low four-under 68 in the second round, before a third round four-over 76 saw him fall two shots behind Sherratt.
Shin was back in control with a strong finish while Sherratt faded with a final round 76 to finish one shot behind with South Australia's Louis Fuller third a further three shots back.
