A bogey on the par-three 17th proved costly for Wellington professional Lynnette Brooky in the opening tournament of the European season in Singapore.
Brooky finished third equal with Briton Laura Davies at eight under for the 54 holes to earn 12,400 ($22,600).
A par would have given her a share of second and almost doubled her prize money.
* New South Wales pair Sarah Kemp and Nikki Garrett, Western Australia's Bree Turnbull and Victorian duo Emma Bennett and Jody Fleming have been selected to represent Australia at the Tasman Cup contest at Titirangi next month.
Only Garrett and Kemp remain from the successful Tasman Cup team who beat New Zealand in Adelaide two years ago.
The event has been held every two years since resuming after World War II, and the 2005 contest will highlight some significant changes.
This year's teams will consist of five players, compared with the seven of previous competitions. Both morning sessions will now be played as foursomes, eliminating the solitary round of four-ball competition.
