KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell tumbled out in the first round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship today, beaten 6 and 5 by Briton Justin Rose.
Campbell, seeded 29th for the 64-man tournament, was off his game from the outset, finding himself four-down after five holes at the Dove Mountain's Gallery Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.
The Wellingtonian shot bogeys on the first, third and fourth holes.
He managed his first birdie on the ninth hole to be three-down at the turn but any chance of a fightback quickly disappeared when 35th-ranked Rose bettered Campbell on the 10th, 12th and 13th holes.
