The rain smiled on New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson as he earned a career best result in the United States today.
Inclement weather forced the cancellation of the final round of the US$450,000 ($657,990) Oregon Classic at the Shadow Hill Country Club, leaving left-hander Wilkinson in a fourway tie for second place.
It represents his best result in his rookie season on the second tier Nationwide Tour and follows his tie for seventh in the Utah Classic last month.
Wilkinson had been primed to challenge for his maiden tour title but rain kept the players off the course, leaving third round leader, American Jeff Gove, the winner on 15-under-par 201.
Joining Wilkinson on 12-under were Americans Jamie Broce and Kris Cox plus Mexican Esteban Toledo.
Another New Zealander, Grant Waite, finished 22nd equal on five-under 211.
Wilkinson, who shared the first and second round leads after shooting seven-under 65 and 69, slipped back yesterday when a round of 70 enabled Gove to put some distance between himself and his pursuers.
